Overview

THIS PAGE IS STILL UNDER ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT

WhaleMap is built to accomodate and distill data from a variety of different sources into a simple, intuitive map. It is mainly intended to help coordinate field research efforts. As such, the raw datasets that go into this app each have their own quality control measures, naming conventions, and other caveats that should not be overlooked. This document attempts to summarize the main data sources and their associated caveats so that users know exactly where these data are coming from, how they’ve been treated, and how to explain or investigate any inconsistencies that may arise.
